【Issue126】Akin Chan

Akin Chan (04/SC/MBChB) has aspired to save lives since childhood. After completing his surgical specialist training, he has taken part in nine humanitarian missions with Médecins Sans Frontières and the Red Cross in Pakistan, South Sudan, Syria and Bangladesh. In resource-limited settings, he drew on his solid clinical foundation to bring hope to those affected by war and humanitarian crises.

Akin believes that whether in a well-equipped hospital or on the front lines of humanitarian relief, what matters most is a strong foundation in medical knowledge, careful examination, sincere communication, and always putting patients first. He is particularly grateful to his teachers at CUHK, who taught him to observe patients closely and pay attention to the smallest details. This belief has stayed with him throughout every humanitarian mission he has undertaken.
