Sarah Chan

When Sarah Chan graduated from CUHK in 2015 with a degree in Computer Science, she never imagined she would one day be leading an AI research team at a major tech company in Silicon Valley.

“My time at CUHK gave me more than technical skills,” Sarah reflects. “The collaborative research environment and the mentorship from professors like Dr. Wong shaped how I approach problem-solving today.”

During her final year, Sarah participated in CUHK’s exchange programme with Stanford University, an experience she credits as pivotal. “That semester abroad showed me what was possible. I returned to Hong Kong with a clear vision of where I wanted to take my career.”

After completing her Master’s at MIT, Sarah joined a leading AI startup before moving to her current role as Director of AI Research. She now actively mentors CUHK students through the Alumni Mentorship Programme.

“I always tell students — your CUHK network is global. Wherever I go, I meet fellow alumni doing incredible things. That connection is priceless.”
