State Theatre in North Point has been successfully preserved, with much credits going to “Walk in Hong Kong” founded by our alumni Paul Chan (05/GS/MPhil in Govt. and Public Admin.). “Preserving existing landmarks is not about nostalgia; it is about recognizing them as cultural assets. If all old buildings are replaced with generic structures seen worldwide, how unique would Hong Kong be? How can we enhance our cultural tourism? ”
Paul shares know-how for preserving local treasures, inspiring more people will join in the preservation of more old buildings, thereby highlighting cultural soft power.
